About This Access Site
Rocky Creek Park offers convenient water access to Somerville Lake's 11,630 acres via one of eleven public boat ramps around the lake. Located near Somerville in Burleson County, this Army Corps of Engineers facility is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters looking to explore the calm lake waters. The area is known for excellent fishing opportunities, with crappie and catfish being popular catches. From Somerville, take Texas 36 South and turn right on FM 1948; the ramp entrance is approximately 1/4 mile ahead on the first road to the right.

The park provides a full-service experience with campground facilities including campsites with picnic tables, grills, restrooms, and showers (shelter-tops available at most sites). Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 1-877-444-6777 or 979-596-1622. Beyond paddling and boating, the lake offers swimming, nature trails, hiking, and biking, making it a well-rounded destination for multi-day trips. Note that some facilities and activities are reserved for registered campers only, so plan accordingly if you intend to camp at Rocky Creek Park.

Somerville Lake offers many opportunities for outdoor recreation. Water sports, hiking and biking are popular activities. The lake is great for crappie, catfish, white, hybrid-striped and largemouth bass fishing, with catches weighing up to 10 or more pounds.
Facilities
Rocky Creek Campground offers 192 sites: 30 sites have 30-amp electrical hookups, 127 sites have 50-amp hookups and 35 tent sites have 30-amp hookups. Flush toilets and showers are provided, as are picnic tables and fire rings. Two boat ramps, group picnic shelter, and dump station are located on-site.
Group Pavilion is made by reservation only.
Natural Features
The campground is situated on a peninsula on scenic Somerville Lake. Some large trees cover the grounds, offering limited shade. Pelicans and other waterfowl frequent the shoreline.
