South Heron Lake (West)

The South Heron Lake (West) boat ramp, located near Lakefield in Jackson County, provides public access to South Heron Lake, a scenic 2,641-acre lake in southwestern Minnesota. This access point is convenient for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters launching into the lake. To reach the ramp from Lakefield, head west on County Road 20/Okabena Road.

South Heron Lake is a shallow lake with a maximum depth of 5 feet, making it ideal for paddling and recreational boating in calm conditions. The lake's expansive size offers plenty of water to explore, while the shallow depth means paddlers should be mindful of water level conditions, especially during dry periods.
