South Slang is a boat launch providing access to Little Otter Creek Wildlife Management Area in Ferrisburgh, offering paddlers and boaters a gateway to exploring the scenic wetland ecosystems of this state-owned property. The ramp provides convenient vehicle access for launching kayaks, canoes, and small boats onto the creek system, which winds through early successional forests and wildlife habitat along Route 125, just south of the Champlain Bridge.
Paddlers can explore both Goose Creek and South Slang Creek from this launch point. The wildlife management area encompasses multiple creek systems and shallow water habitats typical of Vermont's Lake Champlain tributary areas. This is an ideal access point for those interested in wildlife viewing and paddling through protected wetland environments.
For additional access options to the broader Little Otter Creek WMA, visitors can also enter on foot from Hawkins Road or access the eastern side via a gated road at the south end of Greenbush Road. Be aware that this is a natural area managed for wildlife, so paddlers should respect any posted regulations and be prepared for wildlife-rich but potentially mosquito-prone wetland conditions.
