Sprague Lake

Sprague Lake's public boat ramp, located on the southwest end near Havana in Sargent County, offers year-round access for kayakers, canoeists, and small recreational boats. The facility includes a developed boat ramp, five parking lots (with three ADA-designated spaces), and one restroom. The lake is relatively shallow with a maximum depth of 20 feet and extensive shallow areas, making it well-suited for paddling and smaller fishing vessels rather than large speedboats or water sports craft.

Note that the access site may experience seasonal closures during spring and summer for maintenance and facility improvements—check current status before visiting, as construction projects can affect ramp usability. The surrounding area offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, with Tewaukon National Wildlife Refuge nearby featuring impressive migrations of waterfowl, shorebirds, and wading birds during spring and fall seasons. The lake provides good dock fishing opportunities and is popular with anglers and paddlers seeking a quieter water experience.
