About This Access Site
Springer Lake is a 329-acre fishing lake located approximately four miles west of Springer in Colfax County, New Mexico. This public access point offers a boat ramp, free camping near the launch area, picnic tables, and toilet facilities. The lake is regularly stocked with rainbow trout and bullhead catfish, making it popular with anglers. However, be aware that both the boat ramp and access road (dirt road C-17) are reported to be in poor condition, so high-clearance or sturdy vehicles are recommended.

**Directions:** From downtown Springer, head north on Railroad Avenue for 0.3 miles, then turn left onto NM-468. Follow the paved highway and continue onto dirt road C-17 to reach the lake. Given the road conditions, plan accordingly and allow extra time for access. This site is ideal for fishing-focused trips and casual paddling, with primitive camping available on-site at no cost.
