The St. Maries River boat ramp in Saint Maries, Idaho provides access to the 45.8-mile Saint Maries River, a scenic waterway flowing through the Rocky Mountains in Benewah and Shoshone Counties. The ramp is located on the southwest side of the bridge near town, making it a convenient put-in for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. Note that this is a shared access site with Spicer Pond, though Spicer Pond itself has no boat ramp or dock facilities.
Paddlers should be aware that the next downstream access point at Traders Hill Recreation Area is approximately 20 miles away, so plan accordingly. Motorized boats can continue upriver to St. Joe City. The area offers good opportunities for fishing and swimming. For overnight trips, the Shadowy St. Joe Campground (reservable) is available within 10 miles. The surrounding region also features scenic backcountry recreation, including access to the Crystal Lake Wilderness Study Area managed by the BLM.
