Standing Rock Landing (also known as Sizemore Landing) is a public boat ramp access point on Tenkiller Ferry Lake in Cookson, Cherokee County. This non-reservable recreation area provides convenient lake access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats in the scenic Cookson Hills region of eastern Oklahoma, known for its dramatic 200-foot limestone bluffs and scenic water views.
The Illinois River flows into Tenkiller Ferry Lake as a major river system with substantial current—averaging over 27,000 cubic feet per second with a velocity of 4.3 feet/second. While the lake itself offers calmer paddling conditions than the open river, paddlers should be aware of the river's power and respect water conditions. The ramp is one of several usable access points around the lake; however, recent advisories recommend launching at your own risk and checking current conditions before visiting.
For the best experience, arrive early to secure parking and confirm ramp conditions. The area offers good opportunities for lake paddling and fishing, and nearby campgrounds like Elk Creek Landing Park provide full facilities including electric hookups, showers, and additional boat ramps if you need alternatives.
