The Stoneplace boat ramp provides access to Lake Tugalo, a peaceful reservoir on the Chattooga River between Georgia and South Carolina. Located mid-lake on the north side, the one-lane concrete ramp has a dock and gravel parking.
The Chattooga is a renowned whitewater river that flows for 50 miles through the Appalachian Mountains, dropping almost 1,500 feet in elevation. While the lake offers calmer waters, it's important to be mindful of boating regulations - motors are restricted to 20 horsepower or less to preserve the serene atmosphere.
Paddlers and small boaters can explore the lake's coves and inlets, with the largest cove located on the right side about halfway down the reservoir. Anglers will also find good fishing opportunities. Campers have a nearby option at the Cassidy Bridge Primitive Camp, about 10 miles away. Those accessing the Stoneplace ramp should be prepared for potentially rough roads leading to the launch site.
