About This Access Site
Strouds Run State Park offers convenient water access near Athens for paddlers and small boaters exploring Willow Creek and the Hocking River system. The access point includes a dedicated boat ramp and tie-up stakes. Note that motorized boats on Dow Lake are limited to 10 horsepower. Kayak and canoe rentals are available at the Boathouse located off Strouds Run Road near the beach and boat ramp area, making this an accessible option for visitors without their own equipment.

The park spans 2,593 acres and serves as a good base for exploring the scenic Hocking River region. Nearby recreation opportunities include Burr Oak Lake (about 20 miles north via US 33 and OH 13) and Wayne National Forest. The park office can provide additional information about boat rentals and current conditions. This location works well for both day paddlers and those planning overnight camping trips in the greater Hocking Hills area.
