Sunset Bay State Park

Sunset Bay State Park offers a scenic boat launch providing access to the Pacific Ocean and Big Creek in one of the Oregon coast's most picturesque settings. The ramp is situated within a sheltered bay protected by dramatic sea cliffs, making it an excellent launching point for kayakers and small boats. The park features day-use facilities, picnic areas, and is wheelchair accessible, catering to paddlers of various abilities.

Beyond the water, Sunset Bay is a hub for coastal recreation. A network of hiking trails connects the park to nearby Shore Acres and Cape Arago state parks, offering opportunities to explore pristine coastal forests and ocean vistas when you're not on the water. The area is also well-positioned for exploring the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve and Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, both outstanding paddling destinations for wildlife viewing and natural history.

For overnight trips, several campgrounds are located within 10 miles, including Wild Mare Horse Camp, Horsfall Sand Camping, and Bluebill Campground—all reservable. A Junior Ranger Interpretive Building on-site provides historical context about the area, adding educational value to your visit.
