About This Access Site
Located at 1022 Marine Drive NE in downtown Olympia, Swantown Marina offers a convenient public boat launch onto Budd Inlet. The facility features good parking, restroom facilities, and a relatively straightforward launch suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. Hand-launch paddlers can access the ramp free of charge—simply unload quickly near the grass staging area to avoid obstructing commercial boaters. The marina also provides fuel, guest moorage, and boat trailer dry storage for those needing additional services.

Be aware that this popular launch can get busy on weekends, particularly during peak hours, so plan your arrival accordingly. Weekday mornings and evenings typically see lighter traffic. From I-5, take Exit 105, follow the roundabout and directions to Olympia Avenue, then proceed to Marine Drive. Swantown Marina is an ideal starting point for exploring Budd Inlet and nearby waters, including paddling routes toward the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge to the south.
