Taidnapam Park offers convenient access to Riffe Lake, a scenic reservoir created by Mossyrock Dam in the Cascade foothills of Lewis County. The North Boat Launch features a cantilevered dock specifically designed to remain functional during low water levels, making it accessible year-round despite seasonal water fluctuations. The lower parking area is limited to passenger vehicles only, so plan accordingly if towing a trailer.
The park provides multiple launch options suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and powerboats. In addition to the main North Boat Launch, shoreline access is available near the dam and at the Taidnapam Park fishing bridge for launching kayaks and canoes. The lake's forested setting and relatively calm water make it an ideal paddling destination. Note that water levels vary seasonally (lower in winter, higher in late spring/summer), which may affect launch conditions, but the north launch dock was specifically engineered to accommodate these changes.
The site is well-developed with nearby amenities—Iron Creek Campground is within 10 miles for those planning overnight trips. Arrive early during peak seasons, as parking capacity is limited. Check current conditions with Tacoma Public Utilities before your visit, as ongoing improvements to dock extensions and turnarounds may be in progress.
