The Tanana boat access site is located in the village of Tanana, along the banks of the Yukon River in Alaska's Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area. While there is a gravel road that provides access to the river, there is no engineered boat ramp below the ordinary high water line. Paddlers and boaters will need to launch from the shoreline or use the unimproved boat launch at the Manley Hot Springs Landing, about 3 miles from the village center.
The Yukon River is a major waterway in Alaska, flowing over 1,980 miles from its headwaters in Canada to the Bering Sea. It is a wide, slow-moving river that can present challenges for small craft, particularly in terms of wind and current. Boaters should be prepared for changing conditions and have the necessary skills and equipment to navigate the river safely. Permits may be required for certain activities, so paddlers and boaters should check with local authorities before launching.
