Located about 8 miles northeast of Carrabelle in Franklin County, this primitive launch site provides access to the scenic Crooked River within Tate's Hell State Forest. The site features a concrete ramp with grassy areas on either side and a gravel landing suitable for both paddled craft and motorized boats. A grassy parking area is available for trailer parking, making it convenient for day trips or longer paddling expeditions.
The Crooked River is part of an extensive network of 35 miles of creeks, rivers, and streams ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing throughout the forest. Conditions vary by water level and tide—paddlers should be aware that some adjacent access sites experience water level drops at low tide or during outgoing tidal flows. The area is excellent for wildlife viewing, bird watching, and photography, with primitive campsites available nearby for those seeking overnight paddling adventures. No facilities (water, electricity, or restrooms) are available on-site, so plan accordingly for self-sufficient trips.
