Taughannock Falls State Park offers a convenient boat ramp and access site for kayakers, canoeists, and small boaters on the Cayuga-Seneca Canal, part of Cayuga Lake. The concrete boat ramp provides easy launch access to the calm, navigable waters of the canal.
Paddlers can enjoy scenic views of the 215-foot Taughannock Falls, one of the tallest single-drop waterfalls east of the Rocky Mountains, by launching from this site and exploring the Cayuga Lake Blueway Trail. The park also features hiking trails along the gorge and rim, providing opportunities to view the falls from above. Nearby recreation areas include the Finger Lakes National Forest, offering additional hiking and nature experiences.
While the park does not have on-site boat rentals, there are several private marinas in the area that provide kayak, canoe, and small motorboat rentals for visitors. Paddlers should dress for the weather and be prepared for changing conditions on the open waters of Cayuga Lake.
