The Levee Landing is a public boat ramp facility located in Port Barre on Bayou Courtableau in St. Landry Parish. This one-lane concrete ramp with gravel parking provides straightforward access to the bayou system and serves as a convenient put-in for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters exploring the area's slow-moving waterways.
From this access point, paddlers can explore Bayou Courtableau and access nearby Bayou Teche by paddling approximately 0.3 miles upstream. The location positions boaters well for day trips into the scenic Louisiana bayou system, with proximity to the extensive Atchafalaya Basin (595,000 acres of bottomland hardwoods) and the Atchafalaya National Wildlife Refuge. These areas offer excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and paddling through diverse wetland ecosystems.
To reach The Levee Landing from LA-1 North, take exit 153 toward Port Allen and follow LA-1 South for approximately 12 miles. Turn right onto Bayou Jacob Road, then left onto Enterprise Boulevard, and finally right onto LA-3066/Bayou Road to reach the launch. The facility's straightforward setup makes it an accessible starting point for exploring this unique bayou paddling region.
