Thunderbird Marina and RV Resort offers two accessible boat ramps on Milford Lake, Kansas's largest lake, making it a convenient launch point for paddlers and boaters. Located near Junction City on the Republican River, this full-service marina facility features multiple amenities including RV campsites (seasonal, April 1–October 31), boat slips, a sandy beach, restaurant, and on-site storage options. The marina is a gated, secured community, and pets are permitted if leashed.
The Republican River is a large waterway (Stream Order 7) with a drainage area of over 17,000 square miles and an average flow of approximately 1,048 cubic feet per second. The river maintains a moderate gradient of 4.8 feet per mile and an average velocity of 4.78 feet per second, creating a consistent current suitable for various water activities. Milford Lake itself provides calmer conditions compared to the main river channel, making it ideal for recreational boating and paddling.
