About This Access Site
The Trout Lake North boat ramp provides public access to Trout Lake, a substantial 3,864-acre lake in Boulder Junction, Vilas County. This is one of three public boat launches available on Trout Lake and offers a paved ramp suitable for motorboats, kayaks, and canoes. The launch is well-positioned for exploring the northern section of the lake.

Trout Lake is a deep, clear water body with a maximum depth of 117 feet and mean depth of 49 feet, making it well-suited for various paddling and boating activities. Paddlers should be prepared for a sizeable lake environment, as the expansive acreage means wind and wave conditions can change quickly. The lake supports diverse fish species including musky, walleye, northern pike, smallmouth and largemouth bass, panfish, and trout, making it popular with anglers as well as recreational paddlers.
