About This Access Site
The Tuttle Creek-Canoe Dock provides access to the Big Blue River, a major stream (Stream Order 8) with an average flow of 2,741 cubic feet per second and moderate gradient of 2.4 feet/mile. Located in Manhattan near the confluence with the Kansas River, this canoe dock serves as a convenient launch point for paddlers exploring this 356-mile river system. The dock is part of the larger Tuttle Creek Cove recreation area, situated on the scenic shores of Tuttle Creek Lake in northeast Kansas.

Paddlers should be aware of several downstream access options: the Linear Park/Blue River Access Ramp is located 1.8 miles downriver on river left (about 1/3 mile up the Blue River), and Swede Creek boat ramp lies approximately 11.5 miles downstream on the right bank off Swede Creek Road. If muddy conditions develop at the main access, the Black Vermillion confluence (0.6 miles upstream) offers an alternate take-out. For additional amenities and information, contact the Tuttle Creek Cove Campground at (785) 539-6523. The facility offers two boat ramps, canoe and kayak rentals, camping with full hookups, and other recreational services.
