Tuttle Creek-Swede Creek

Located near Olsburg in Riley County, this boat ramp provides access to the Big Blue River, a major waterway with an average flow of approximately 2,740 cubic feet per second. The ramp is situated at Fancy Creek State Park, part of the broader Tuttle Creek Lake recreation area. The Big Blue River at this location carries significant flow with an average velocity of 4.35 feet per second, making it suitable for kayaking and canoeing, though paddlers should be aware of current conditions and water releases from upstream Tuttle Creek Reservoir.

The Big Blue River is a substantial stream (Stream Order 8—comparable to major rivers like the Mississippi) with a moderate gradient of 2.4 feet per mile. From this access point, the next downriver takeout is the Linear Park/Blue River Access Ramp, located approximately 1.8 miles downstream on river left. Paddlers should note that returning upstream on the Blue River from the Kansas River confluence can be difficult, particularly when Tuttle Creek Reservoir is releasing water volumes exceeding 500 cubic feet per second. Check current water conditions and flow rates before paddling to plan your route safely.
