Twin Knobs Ramp

Twin Knobs Boat Ramp provides access to Cave Run Lake, a 8,270-acre reservoir nestled in the northernmost section of Daniel Boone National Forest near Farmers in Rowan County. The ramp is located within the Twin Knobs Recreation Area off KY 801 (take I-64 Exit 133 west of Morehead, then head south 8.4 miles). This access point is primarily available to paid campers staying at Twin Knobs Campground, which features over 200 campsites across 10 loops. The recreation area offers convenient amenities for paddlers and boaters, including a beach area and full campground facilities. Beyond the ramp, Cave Run Lake provides excellent opportunities for kayaking and canoeing across its expansive waters. The surrounding area is managed by the U.S. Forest Service and offers scenic views of mixed conifer and deciduous forest. Note that fishing restrictions apply directly at the boat ramp, though fishing is permitted once you're on the water. Nearby alternative access points include Alfrey and Scott Creek boat ramps if you're not camping at Twin Knobs.

There is a variety of different camp sites that include paved spurs that can accommodate any size RV, picnic tables, fire rings and grills. Some sites have electric hookups.

Facilities include bathhouses with showers, drinking water and flush toilets. The bathhouses and some picnic areas are accessible.Natural Features
The Daniel Boone National Forest embraces some of the most rugged terrain west of the Appalachian Mountains. The forest lies within the Cumberland Plateau, where steep
forested slopes, sandstone cliffs and narrow ravines characterize the land in this region.

Cave Run Lake is in the Cumberland District in the northernmost part of the forest. The lake is surrounded by the rolling hills of northeastern Kentucky.
