The Two Hearted River State Forest Campground offers a well-developed boat launch facility with a hard-surfaced ramp providing access to the Two Hearted River and beyond. The boat ramp maintains approximately 3 feet of water depth, accommodating all types of watercraft including kayaks, canoes, and larger boats. A skid pier is also available adjacent to the day-use area, making this an excellent put-in point for river paddlers and boaters exploring this scenic stretch of Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
The campground serves as a hub for accessing both the Two Hearted River and Lake Superior's shoreline. From here, paddlers can explore the river or cross the suspension bridge on the west side of the campground to reach Lake Superior's shores. With 36 campsites available on a first-come, first-serve basis for tent and small trailer camping, this location works well for multi-day paddling trips. The site also offers connections to the North Country Scenic Trail for those interested in hiking, providing a full outdoor recreation experience in a rustic, peaceful setting.
