The Tybee Creek boat ramp provides easy access to the peaceful tidal creek on the south side of Tybee Island. This is a good option for launching kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats to explore the surrounding marshes and waterways.
The ramp is located at the end of Alley Way 3, off Chatham Avenue on the east side of the island. It's recommended for launching small boats only, as the ramp is relatively short. Deeper water access is available a few miles away at the Lazaretto Creek boat ramp on the north side of the island.
Tybee Creek itself is a tidal estuary, with depths and flows varying throughout the day. Paddlers should be aware of changing currents and plan their trips accordingly. The creek offers a scenic, protected waterway to access the nearby Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge and Fort Pulaski National Monument. Those seeking a longer day trip can also connect to the Savannah River via the Savannah River marshes.
