About This Access Site
The UC Aquatic Center in Berkeley, CA provides easy access to launch kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats onto San Francisco Bay. Located in the Berkeley Marina, the center is conveniently accessible by public transportation, with the AC Transit 51B bus route running directly to the marina.

The launch ramp and docks are generally accessible, though the ramp can be difficult to use at very low tides. Nearby amenities include the Bay Trail, Eastshore State Park, and other recreational areas along the Berkeley waterfront. However, the center itself does not have any dedicated parking, so visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the public transit options.

For those looking to explore San Francisco Bay by paddle or small boat, the UC Aquatic Center offers a prime launching point. Its location on the sheltered waters of the Berkeley Marina provides a great starting point to paddle along the scenic East Bay shoreline or venture out towards the Golden Gate Bridge and beyond.

The plaza is the starting point for all your bridge-related adventures. From here, you can learn about the history of the bridge and its impact on the Bay Area with the help of interactive installations and models, including a cross-section of the bridge's main suspension cable. There is limited paid parking at the plaza, and we highly recommend that you take public transit.
