About This Access Site
The False Pass boat ramp provides access to the Pacific Ocean, Bechevin Bay, and Isanotski Strait on the eastern shore of Unimak Island in the Aleutian Islands. This remote location is 646 air miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska.

The ramp is situated on Isanotski Strait, a 4-mile channel that connects the Pacific to the Bering Sea. The strait is well-marked with navigation aids and used as a shortcut by vessels with a draft less than 10 feet. Kayakers, canoeists, and small boaters can access the open waters of the Pacific as well as the more protected bays and inlets around Unimak Island.

The location and exposed nature of the site means boaters should be prepared for potentially challenging weather and sea conditions. Careful trip planning, proper safety gear, and knowledge of tides and currents are essential for a safe and enjoyable outing. Those unfamiliar with the area are advised to research conditions before launching.
