Union Point Boat Ramp provides convenient public access to the Trent River via US Highway 17/NC 43 in New Bern. The facility features 30 paved parking spaces for vehicles with trailers, a concrete launching lane, and a small pier/dock for easier boarding. The site is maintained by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission as a free, 24-hour access area, making it ideal for early morning or evening paddling trips.

The Trent River at this location is a large, navigable waterway classified as a Stream Order 6 river with an average flow of approximately 707 cubic feet per second and gentle gradient of 1.7 feet per mile.
