Located off Route 374 approximately five miles north of Merrill in Clinton County, this DEC-maintained boat ramp provides convenient access to Upper Chateaugay Lake and the Chateaugay Narrows. The facility features a hard-surface launch ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats, with parking available for 25 vehicles and trailers. The ramp is positioned in the Chateaugay Narrows, about one mile north of the main lake body, with navigable water connecting to the broader lake.
Paddlers should note that the Chateaugay Narrows provides an immediate paddling area from the launch, making this a good starting point for both flatwater kayaking and canoeing. Before visiting, check for any seasonal restrictions that may apply to the lake, including speed limits, motor regulations, or other boating rules. The surrounding area offers opportunities for fishing, wildlife viewing, and enjoying the natural beauty of the Adirondack region.
