About This Access Site
The US 17 Steel Bridge boat ramp provides public access to the Combahee River in Yemassee, located on the Beaufort County side of the Harriet Tubman Bridge. This county-maintained facility features a dual-lane ramp and an older courtesy dock, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats. The ramp is heavily used, so expect it to be busy during peak times.

Parking is limited to approximately 14 unpaved spaces, which can fill quickly on popular paddling days. Plan accordingly or consider visiting during off-peak hours. The Combahee River in this area is wide and characterized by extensive marshland, making it accessible for paddlers of varying skill levels. The site is part of the Beaufort County Boat Landing system and is also home to a monofilament recycling program.
