Located two miles west of Logan in Quay County, Ute Lake State Park offers convenient access to one of New Mexico's longest reservoirs. The main boat ramp is well-developed with supporting amenities including a marina, boat dock, picnic areas, and a visitor center. The park's entry gate is open 24 hours daily, making it accessible for early morning or evening paddling trips.
Ute Lake is an 8,200-acre reservoir on the Canadian River that stretches nearly thirteen miles long but rarely exceeds one mile in width, creating a scenic canyon environment ideal for kayaking and canoeing. The Canadian River arm is particularly popular for fall paddling when water temperatures remain comfortable and motorized boat traffic decreases. The narrow, elongated shape of the lake makes it well-suited for paddlers, though be aware that motorized boats, water skiing, and jet skiing are also permitted on the reservoir.
The park offers full camping facilities with drinking water, flush and vault toilets, showers, and a dump station. For reservations, contact the New Mexico State Parks reservation website or call the Park Superintendent's Office at 1800 540 Loop, Logan, NM 88426.
