The Vaughan Road boat ramp provides convenient access to the upper reaches of the White River in Blue Springs Village, Arkansas. This major river system drains over 26,950 square miles and features a total drop of nearly 7,800 feet from its headwaters to its mouth, making it a popular destination for paddlers and boaters.
The ramp is located approximately 15 river miles downstream of the Batesville Dam and offers a large parking area and easy launch for canoes, kayaks, and small motorized boats. Paddlers and anglers can expect moderately swift currents, with an average flow of around 35,000 cubic feet per second and an average gradient of 7.4 feet per mile. The nearest campground is the War Eagle Campground, situated about 10 miles away.
While public access points along the White River can be limited in some areas due to private land ownership, the Vaughan Road site provides an excellent launch for exploring this scenic and dynamic waterway. Boaters and paddlers should familiarize themselves with the river's characteristics and plan accordingly for a safe and enjoyable experience on the water.
