Viking Lake State Park

Viking Lake's north boat ramp offers convenient access to this 140-acre lake near Villisca. The concrete ramp is well-maintained and located in a protected cove area, with nearby docking facilities available. This is one of four ramps around the lake, making it easy to access the water for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. The lake operates under "no wake" speed restrictions, making it ideal for paddlers seeking a calm, controlled paddling environment.

The north section of the lake features scenic shoreline with Osage Orange trees and runs parallel to US-34. Paddlers should note that water depth varies significantly—the lake ranges from shallow areas near the beach to depths of 44 feet in some sections. The park offers additional amenities including a sandy beach on the western shore, a boat concession with rentals and bait, and six universally accessible fishing jetties along the shoreline, making it a family-friendly destination for both paddlers and anglers.
