Located in Gulf Hammock near Inglis off CR 326 (US 19), Waccasassa Park provides the primary public access to the Waccasassa River, a designated Outstanding Florida Water. This boat ramp is the gateway for paddlers exploring one of Florida's most scenic and pristine waterways. The facility serves kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats looking to access the river and nearby Waccasassa Bay.
The best paddling experience is found upstream from the launch, where the river remains sheltered and scenic with minimal motorboat traffic. Approximately 2/3 mile upstream, the river splits—bear left to continue on the main channel. Paddlers should note that the Waccasassa River is tidal and offers moderate to difficult paddling conditions depending on water levels and tidal stage. The river provides roughly 3-4 miles of prime navigable water upstream from the ramp, making it ideal for day trips seeking a peaceful natural setting away from heavy boat traffic.
For trip planning, contact the park at (352) 543-5567. The ramp also provides access to nearby paddling destinations including Cedar Key to the west and Yankeetown to the south.
