About This Access Site
**Important Note:** The boat ramp at Walter E. Long Lake is currently closed due to dam repairs (expected through 2027), and water levels are too low for motorized vessel launches. However, shore-launched watercraft including kayaks and canoes can still access the lake directly from the park.

**Access & Amenities:** Located 12 miles east of downtown Austin via FM 969 to FM 973, then Decker Lake Road, this day-use park offers an affordable option for paddlers seeking calmer waters away from busier Austin lakes. The park is open daily with a $5 weekday/$8 weekend entry fee per vehicle. Portable restrooms are available on-site. This is an ideal spot for canoeists and kayakers looking for a sheltered paddling experience on a constant-level lake.

**What to Expect:** Decker Lake offers relatively protected paddling conditions suitable for recreational kayakers and canoeists of various skill levels. While the motorized boat ramp remains closed, hand-launch access from shore makes this an accessible option for paddlers without vehicle-based ramp access. Check austintexas.gov/parkclosures for current conditions and updates on ramp reopening timelines.
