Washta Access is a 52-acre public access site located on the west edge of the Little Sioux River south of Washta in Ida County. The site features a concrete boat ramp suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats, making it a convenient launch point for paddlers exploring this scenic waterway. The access area includes a small park facility, providing space for parking and preparation before heading out on the water.
This access point serves as a popular put-in along the Inkpaduta Canoe Trail, a well-established paddling route in northwest Iowa. Paddlers should note that Washta Access is located north of Little Sioux Park, which serves as a common take-out point for multi-day trips. Check current river conditions before paddling, as water levels on the Little Sioux River can vary seasonally and affect navigation. This site is ideal for both day trips and as a starting point for longer canoe or kayak expeditions downstream.
