About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** The Watchaug Pond State Boat Launch is located on the eastern shore of the pond off Sanctuary Road in Charlestown, RI. The ramp features a public cement launch facility. To find it, follow Montauk Road and turn right at the T-junction with Sanctuary Road, watching for the DEM sign marking the ramp.

**Pond Character:** Watchaug Pond is a 573-acre freshwater pond with approximately 4 miles of shoreline. The pond is surrounded by over 3,000 acres of public land, including Burlingame State Park on three sides and the John H. Chafee National Wildlife Refuge nearby. This makes it an excellent destination for kayaking and canoeing in a scenic, protected setting.

**Fishing & Amenities:** The pond is a productive fishery where anglers pursue bass, crappie, perch, and pickerel from both boats and shore. Burlingame State Park operates a nearby campground with lakeside campsites and boat access, making this an ideal spot for a paddling trip combined with camping. The area is also close to the Vin Gormley Trail for additional outdoor recreation opportunities.
