About This Access Site
Wateree River Veterans Park offers boat ramp access to the Wateree River in Kershaw County, south of the Lake Wateree Dam. The park features a dedicated boat launch with a dirt parking lot, making it a convenient put-in point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. This location is undergoing improvements, with a new safer boat ramp construction project scheduled for completion by spring 2025.

The Wateree River below the dam features varied water conditions that are ideal for different skill levels. Paddlers will encounter small shoals as the river crosses the fall line in the initial section, offering more dynamic conditions for experienced boaters. The second half of typical float trips transitions to flat water, making it accessible for intermediate paddlers and recreational floaters. This site is a popular access point for both day trips and longer river expeditions in the area.
