About This Access Site
Waterton Lake offers boat launching facilities at the marina in the Waterton townsite, providing access to this scenic mountain lake in Glacier County, Montana. This is a primary access point for paddlers and boaters exploring Upper and Middle Waterton Lakes within Waterton National Park. The ramp accommodates various watercraft including kayaks, canoes, and motorboats, though powerboat use is restricted to Upper and Middle Waterton Lakes.

Before launching, be aware that boats are subject to inspection for invasive species. Upon inspection approval, staff will remove your seal and unlock the gate at the boat launch. If you remove your boat from the lake, you'll need to obtain a new seal before re-entering. The marina also serves as a hub for other recreational activities, including historic lake cruises and shuttle services for hikers accessing backcountry trails like the popular Crypt Lake hike.

This access site is ideal for day trips and extended paddling on the large lake expanse, with stunning mountain scenery throughout Waterton National Park. Contact park staff or visit the marina for current information on inspection procedures, seasonal availability, and any other launch requirements.
