Weigh Station is the primary take-out point on the lower Blackfoot River in Missoula County, Montana, located near Bonner where the river approaches Bonner Dam. This Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks access site features a concrete boat ramp, parking area, and restroom facilities, making it a convenient landing spot for kayakers, canoeists, and rafters finishing float trips on the Blackfoot. The site has undergone improvements in recent years to enhance access and safety.
**Important note for paddlers:** Weigh Station serves as the final practical take-out on the lower Blackfoot River. If you're planning a longer float trip, plan to take out here rather than attempting to continue downstream toward the Clark Fork confluence, where access and safety conditions are limited. For upstream float trips, paddlers coming from higher on the river should be aware that the Blackfoot slows considerably in the final miles above Bonner Dam. If you need to take out upstream of Weigh Station, Wisherd Bridge (approximately five river miles upstream) is an alternative option.
The parking area can become busy during summer weekends. Arrive early during peak season to secure a spot, and be prepared to wait if other boaters are launching or loading. Check current conditions with Montana FWP before your trip, as site conditions and river access may vary seasonally.
