The West Ramp at West Branch State Park provides convenient access to Michael J Kirwan Reservoir and the West Branch Mahoning River in Charlestown, Ohio. This well-maintained launch features an 18-foot-wide ramp with dedicated parking for trucks, trailers, and vehicles. Courtesy docks are available for boaters, making it easy to load and unload gear or passengers.
The reservoir offers a mix of recreational opportunities, with a 300-foot no-wake zone along the eastern shoreline that makes it suitable for kayakers and canoeists looking for calmer paddling. The broader lake area supports powerboats and is popular for fishing. From the ramp, paddlers can explore the scenic waters while also enjoying access to West Branch State Park's trail system, including connections to the Buckeye Trail network.
Located just off Knapp Road near Route 5, the ramp is easily accessible and well-positioned for a day of paddling or boating. The facility is non-reservable and operated as a public access point by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
