About This Access Site
West Star Lake Campground offers a public boat ramp and launch pier located between campsites 1716 and 1717 in the Northern Highland State Forest. The facility includes a sandy launch area suitable for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats. An entrance fee is required to access the Northern Highland State Forest. Non-campground guests can purchase day-use access to the boat landing separately. Basic amenities include vault toilets (one ADA accessible), hand pumps for drinking water, and trash/recycling facilities.
Star Lake itself is known for quality fishing and boating opportunities, with a large water access area and a small sandy swimming beach within the campground. The lake is surrounded by Northern Highland State Forest, providing a scenic paddling environment. A nearby nature trail offers additional recreational opportunities. All access is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The nearest town of St. Germain is approximately 8 miles away, making this a convenient access point for exploring the Star Lake area.
