The Western Carolina Sailing Club provides boat ramp access to Lake Hartwell's Seneca River arm in Anderson, South Carolina. This facility is located slightly southeast of channel marker S20 and offers 140 trailer boat spaces and 34 anchorages. The ramp serves as a convenient launch point for exploring one of the most popular Corps of Engineers lakes in the nation.
Lake Hartwell, created between 1955 and 1963, offers excellent conditions for kayaking, canoeing, and recreational boating. The broader Savannah River system—of which this lake is part—is a major waterway with significant flow (averaging over 12,800 cubic feet per second) and drainage area of over 10,000 square miles. Paddlers should be aware that while the lake itself provides calm water conditions, the underlying river has substantial current and flow characteristics typical of a major river system.
This is a member-oriented sailing club facility, so access policies and availability may be limited to members or require prior arrangement. Nearby camping options at Lake Hartwell Camping and Cabins provide lodging for multi-day paddling trips. For current information on public access, hours, and any fees, contact the facility directly before planning your visit.
