About This Access Site
Westville Recreation Area offers excellent access to paddling on Westville Lake and the slow-moving section of the Quinebaug River in Sturbridge, MA. The site features two dedicated boat ramps designed specifically for canoe and kayak launches, making it convenient for paddlers of all experience levels. The recreation area is easily accessed from Wallace Road in Sturbridge (off Main Street) or from Southbridge via West Street. Facilities include picnic areas, a picnic cove, and ample recreation space.

The Quinebaug River at this location is characterized by slow-moving water, making it ideal for recreational paddling and fishing. Beyond paddling, the site offers hiking trails, including a scenic walk along the historic Grand Trunk Railroad that parallels the river, plus fishing access. Dogs on leash are welcome. Note that winter access is limited (gates closed), though the area remains popular for ice activities.
