About This Access Site
Wheeler Lake offers a well-maintained public boat landing on the east shore of First Creek in Lakewood, Oconto County. The facility features two paved launching ramps—a 4-lane ramp and a 2-lane ramp—providing good capacity for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. To access the site, follow Highway 72 to the state park entrance, then head south and follow directional signs to the landing.

This 281-acre lake has a maximum depth of 35 feet and supports a diverse fishery including panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and walleye. The landing is owned and maintained by the Township of Lakewood. Boot Lake Campground is available for overnight stays approximately 10 miles away. Whether you're planning a paddling trip or boat outing, this public access point provides reliable launching facilities for exploring the lake.
