Whitaker Bridge is a state fishing access site on the Blackfoot River located 17 miles east of Missoula in Missoula County. This launch point provides access to the popular Lower Blackfoot River Corridor, a scenic stretch ideal for kayaking and canoeing. To reach the site, take Ninemile Prairie Road from Highway 200 at the Johnsrud Park turnoff and approach from the east. The facility includes a boat ramp, parking, and seasonal facilities.
For paddlers planning multi-day or through-trips, note that the Wisherd take-out is located immediately upstream on the left bank after the second bridge downstream from launch. The Whitaker Bridge area is part of Montana's state fishing access system and offers opportunities for both day floats and longer river expeditions. Be aware that access roads in the Lower Blackfoot River Corridor may be affected by seasonal maintenance and closures, so check current conditions before your visit. A Montana fishing or recreation permit may be required depending on your activity.
