About This Access Site
White Earth Campground offers a convenient boat launch on Canyon Ferry Reservoir, a 35-mile-long impoundment of the Missouri River located between the Big Belt and Elkhorn mountain ranges near Townsend, Montana. The facility includes a dedicated boat ramp with trailer parking, making it an accessible entry point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters exploring this scenic reservoir. The campground is situated in an open valley setting approximately 25 miles from Helena, MT, and midway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.

The campground features 36 campsites available for reservation, along with vault toilets, potable water, and other amenities during peak season (May through September). Note that fees apply only during peak season. Before launching, check current water levels at Canyon Ferry Reservoir, as seasonal fluctuations can affect ramp accessibility and water conditions. To reach the facility from Townsend, head north on MT Highway 12/287 through Winston, then turn right onto Beaver Creek Road and continue 5.5 miles to the campground. For specific conditions or ramp information, contact the facility at 406-475-3921.
