About This Access Site
White Pine Lake offers a concrete boat ramp for paddlers and boaters near Lutsen in Cook County. The 261-acre lake is located approximately two miles north of MN Highway 200 and provides access for kayaks, canoes, and boats up to 18 feet (some ramps may accommodate larger vessels). There are no launch fees unless the site requires a vehicle permit. The ramp is suitable for a range of watercraft, making it a straightforward entry point for day trips or longer paddling adventures.

Beyond the launch area, White Pine Lake connects to backcountry camping opportunities on Rice Lake, accessible only by boat or foot. If you're planning an overnight paddle, be aware that backcountry campsites operate on a first-come, first-served basis and include basic amenities like fire grates and latrines. Remember to hang food packs, treat or boil drinking water, and extinguish fires completely before leaving your site. Northern pike, bass, and bluegill inhabit these waters, making the area popular with anglers as well.
