About This Access Site
Whitehorn Cove offers convenient public boat ramp access to Fort Gibson Lake on the Neosho River (also known as the Grand River), located approximately 5 miles northwest of Fort Gibson in Wagoner County. This full-service marina facility encompasses over 200 acres and provides paddlers and boaters with excellent amenities including multiple public boat ramps, covered boat slips, a tackle shop, and a floating restaurant. The cove is easily accessible via Highway 69 north from Wagoner, then east on Whitehorn Cove Road.

Fort Gibson Lake is an impoundment on the Neosho River, a major river system with a drainage area of over 12,000 square miles. The underlying river averages substantial flow (approximately 10,500 cubic feet per second) with a moderate gradient of 2.1 feet per mile. This creates a scenic lake environment suitable for various water activities while maintaining interesting current characteristics. As one of 12 recreational areas providing access to the lake, Whitehorn Cove is a well-developed option for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters seeking reliable launching facilities and support services.
