Whites Ferry Landing

Whites Ferry Landing provides boat ramp access to the South River in Marshfield, located next to the Marshfield Yacht Club. The landing is owned and maintained by the town and offers a convenient entry point to this significant waterway.

The South River is a substantial waterway—a large river (Stream Order 6) with an 83-mile length and 491-square-mile drainage basin. Paddlers should expect moderate current conditions with an average flow of 559 cubic feet per second and velocity around 2 feet per second, making it suitable for intermediate paddlers. The river's gentle average gradient of 1.3 feet per mile suggests relatively stable conditions without major rapids, though water levels and flow rates vary seasonally.
