Wiese Slough Wildlife Area in Moscow offers paddlers and boaters access to approximately 1,700 acres of managed wildlife habitat along the Cedar River. The site features two boat ramps providing convenient launch points into the slough. This is a working wildlife management area maintained by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, where you can expect to encounter natural conditions including timber, restored prairie, and seasonal water level variations as the Cedar River winds through the property.
The area is popular for both paddling and fishing, with parking available along Mohawk Avenue on the south side of the site. Conditions can vary seasonally, so paddlers should be prepared for typical Iowa river conditions. Wildlife viewing opportunities are excellent, particularly for waterfowl. For specific current conditions, water levels, or any access restrictions, contact the Odessa Wildlife Unit at 319-551-8459.
