Wilbur Park offers a well-maintained boat ramp and floating dock system on the Bass River in Yarmouth, located off Highbank Road. The facility features free parking, a small sandy beach, and a handicapped-accessible fishing pier, making it a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. A paved ramp with parallel floating dock accommodates various vessel types and skill levels.
From Wilbur Park, paddlers can explore the Bass River in both directions—north toward Follins Pond or south toward Smuggler's Beach and open water at Nantucket Sound (approximately one hour paddle). The river is popular with kayakers and paddleboarders, though conditions can become choppy in winds above 8 mph, and strong currents are present. Bass River itself offers good fishing opportunities, making this a scenic spot for anglers and recreational paddlers alike.
**Note:** Dogs are allowed off-season only (no dogs May 15 through Labor Day). The facility includes trailer parking and on-shore fishing areas. While suitable for intermediate paddlers with experience on moving water, the location may present challenges for beginners due to currents and wind conditions.
